MARSHALL, Texas – American Southwest Conference action will resume this weekend for the East Texas Baptist University baseball team as they travel on the road to take on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Due to weather conditions in the area, the game was moved back for a Sunday-Monday series at Red Murff Field.
Conner Combs leads the Tiger offense with a .364 batting average. Zach Gartner leads ETBU with five homeruns this season, and is tied for the lead in extra base hits with Combs. Landen Barns leads with 20 runs batted in this season in 15 games played. ETBU is hitting .291 as a team so far, has an on-base percentage of .403, and is slugging .477 as a unit.
Logan Sprinkle has a 1.35 earned run average over his six appearances out of the bullpen for ETBU. In his three starts, Ashley Dukes has a posted a 4.02 earned run average, leading the starters for ETBU. ETBU has a 6.49 team Earned run average, allowing 88 runs in 122 innings pitched.
UMHB is led by Dakota Best with a .343 batting average. Mitch Patterson and Austin Blanford have a .324 and .323 batting average respectively. Patterson and Landon Dieterich lead the Crusaders with six runs batted in on the season. ETBU is hitting .253 as a team, slugging .306, and have a .320 on-base percentage.
Nathan Kent has a 2.65 earned run average to lead all UMHB starters and is currently 1-1 this season. Stuart Hennigar and Aaron Barteau lead the UMHB bullpen with a 2.84 and 3.00 earned run average. Barteau is 1-0 with two saves out of the bullpen.
ETBU is entering the series with a 9-6 overall record, and are currently 3-0 in ASC play. UMHB is 3-7 overall and 1-2 in ASC play. Sunday’s game will start at 3:00 p.m., and Monday’s double header will begin at 12:30 p.m.
