BASS Wildcard Lay Lake, Alabaster, Alabama
ALABASTER, Ala. (Lay Lake) – In their final outing for the first year program, the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Bass Fishing team is competed at the BASS Wildcard competition in Alabama. After two days of fishing, ETBU came close to the top 20 but finished in 35th place to end the inaugural season for them.
Day two of competition at the BASS Wildcard event on Lay Lake in Alabaster, Alabama came to a close as four ETBU teams pushed for a spot in the top 20. Jared Penton and Dustin Pearcy weighed in another limit of fish giving them a two day total of 20 pounds 1 ounces putting them in 35th place out of a 127 boat field. Chad Poulsen and Noah Batts finished the day weighing in five fish for a two day total of 17 pounds 9 ounces good enough for a 57th place finish. Jacob Keith and Brett Clark had a two day total of 7 pounds 15 ounces putting them in 104th place. Colby Simmons and Brandon Barber did not weigh in any fish.

Day 1 Recap
Jared Penton and Dustin Pearcy finished day one with a five fish limit weighing in 10 pounds 6 ounces putting them in 42nd place. Chad Poulsen and Noah Batts weighed in four fish for 8 pounds 2 ounces putting them in 66th place.
Chad Poulsen said, “We will need about 15 pounds tomorrow to make the cut for Saturday.”
Jacob Keith and Brett Clark weighed in two fish for 3 pounds 8 ounces putting them in 106th place. The final team of Colby Simmons and Brandon Barber didn't weigh in a fish. The cut line after Friday is the top 20 and there is less than two pounds that separate Jared Penton and Dustin Pearcy from on that list. It is very possible to jump up in the leaderboard and make the cut.
