MARSHALL, Texas – In their final regular season series, the East Texas Baptist University softball team will play host to Hardin-Simmons University this weekend. ETBU (30-6) enters second in the American Southwest Conference standings at 22-5 in ASC play. HSU (17-19) stands in the final spot currently to make the ASC tournament in sixth place at 11-16 in ASC play.
Linzie Lewis leads ETBU with a .460 batting average, 57 hits, nine doubles, and 43 runs scored this season. Lindsey Vasquez and Jayme Perez have a .421 and .420 batting average respectively. Vasquez has a team high 43 stolen bases this season which is tops in the ASC, and third in NCAA DIII. Perez has a team high 10 homeruns and 47 RBI, slugging an impressive .748. As a team, ETBU is hitting .337, slugging .502, and have an on-base percentage of .426.
In the circle for ETBU, Jordan Anderson leads the pitching staff with a 13-2 record while sporting a 2.56 ERA. Anderson also leads in innings pitched with 98.1 and strikeouts with 89. Rocki Tello has 11 wins this season (11-3) with a team best 1.89 ERA in 96.1 innings pitched.
HSU is led by Breanna Greer with a .429 batting average. Lauren Williams and Braleigh Middleton each have a team high 15 RBI, with Williams leading the team with three homeruns. Lexie Allen has a team best 2.70 ERA and eight wins in the circle this season in 93.1 innings pitched.
ETBU and HSU will play a double header on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, ETBU will honor the six seniors in the program before the game at 12:00 p.m.
