AUSTIN, Texas – Completing in their final meet of the regular season, the East Texas Baptist University women’s cross country team came away with fifth place in the American Southwest Conference Championship meet at Concordia University-Texas. With 154 points, ETBU finished 17 points behind LeTourneau, but 19 ahead of Ozarks. Shelby Spencer was named the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year for women's cross country and was also All-ASC first-team.
Leading the way for ETBU was Spencer who finished with a seventh place finish at 23:55.6. Following her was Chloe Hudson, who clocked in at 27:24.5 for a 33rd place finish. Alyssa Cummings finished her meet at 27:40.9 for 36th place while Hannah Bennett came in at 28:48.7 for 42nd place. Cleopatra Oliverez (29:04.1), Courtney Stevens (29:05.7), and Amy Daly (29:15.1) finished next to each other at 44th, 45th, and 46th place respectively. Victoria Gutierrez (30:14.5), and Hannah Crisp (30:41.2) rounded out the runners with 58th and 61st place finishes respectively.
Spencer will now get to run at the NCAA South/Southwest Regional Meet in November.
