MT. BERRY, Georgia – Making East Texas Baptist University proud by representing them at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship Meet, Shelby Taylor-Spencer and Shelby Sparks ran against some of the best runners in the south. This was the fourth straight year ETBU was represented in the NCAA Regional meet.
Taylor-Spencer finished in 57th place with a time of 24:33.1. This was the best finish of her career at the NCAA Regional Meet in the three meets she has previously ran in finishing 116th, and 86th respectively in the previous two. During her run, she averaged at least a time of 6:35.1 per mile.
Sparks, who competed in her official last race despite not competing in the ASC Championship meet, clocked in at a time of 27:34.9, which was good enough for a 167th place finish. This was her fourth time at the NCAA regional meet as she has had finishes of 169th, 156th, and 157th in her previous three meets. As she ran, she was averaging a time of 7:23.8 per mile.
Natalie Bach-Prather, the head coach, continues to send runners to the regional meet every year and build the ETBU program.
