16-17 Team Moments: Honorable Mention

MARSHALL, Texas – It’s that time of the year where we unveil the top 10 ETBU Team Moments of the 2016-17 season. There have been a lot of achievements that have occurred this past season from the teams and it was hard to choose a Top 10. That is why we are starting off with an honorable mention list of the teams and achievements from 2016-17.

Honorable Mention

ETBU Men’s Soccer - First Win – In his coaching debut, Chris Crawford guided his team to a 2-0 win at their home opener against Schreiner. ETBU had goals in the second half by David Jackson and Danillo Martins in the 67th and 75th minutes respectively. ETBU would finish the season 9-9 which was the most wins in 10 years.

ETBU Softball – 14-0 Start – ETBU softball started the season by tying a program record for 14 straight wins. They picked up series sweeps against Pacific University, Belhaven University, LeTourneau University, Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Howard Payne University. With that 14-0 start, they went undefeated in the month of February.

ETBU Football – 5-0 Start – ETBU football set a new program record by starting the season 5-0. Their wins came over #20 Texas Lutheran, Southwest Assemblies of God, Southwestern University, Belhaven University, and McMurry University. It was the first 5-0 start, ever, in the history of the program.

ETBU Women’s Soccer – ASC Tournament Appearance – Head coach Erik Solberg guided the Tigers to the ASC Tournament in just his first. ETBU did fall in the first round to UT-Tyler 4-1.

ETBU Volleyball – ASC Tournament Appearance – In her first season as head coach, Keely Peterson guided ETBU to the ASC Tournament where they reached the ASC Semifinals. ETBU went 3-2 in the tournament defeating Hardin-Simmons twice and Howard Payne University.
