CLAREMONT, California – After winning their first NCAA Tournament match yesterday, the East Texas Baptist University women’s tennis team fell to #1 nationally-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 5-0. ETBU ends their season at 19-5, the most wins in program history, and reached the NCAA postseason for the first time in program history.
#1 CMS won all three doubles matches to start the day. Nicole Tan and Lindsay Brown defeated Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith in a tightly contested 8-5 win in #1 doubles. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall lost to Katie Kuosman and Catherine Allen 8-0 in #2 doubles. Kyla Scott and Madison Shea defeated Jabree McClaine and Ashley Schenck in #3 doubles 8-3.
Kousman defeated Mullika Seekhieo in #5 singles 6-1, 6-0 to take match number four for CMS. Up 4-0, Smith fell to Brown 6-3, 6-0 to give CMS the 5-0 win. The other four matches remained unfinished.
ETBU graduates one player in Bramlett, who finishes her ETBU career with the most wins in program history. In her career, Bramlett has racked up over 100 career wins, in singles and doubles play.
