TAME | SB | Australia Recap #5

The ETBU Tiger Softball Team checked out of their cabins on Saturday morning before heading to the field for their final game of the Under 23 tournament hosted by Softball Australia.  The Tigers entered the day with a perfect 5-0 record and looked to finish the tournament undefeated heading into the final game against Victoria.

Hannah R. Kelley started on the mound for ETBU and did not allow a run in her three innings in the circle.

Delanie Loya singled to lead off the bottom of the first and Tauryn Cummings added a double.  Ashley Croft walked to load the bases and Sydney Green drew a walk to force in one run. Hannah A. Kelley was hit by a pitch and Denver Starkes  walked to each push in a run. Braidee Glenn hit a single to left for an RBI and Braelyn Buchanan added a RBI groundout, giving the Tigers a 5-0 after the first inning.

The Tigers added to their lead in the second, scoring two runs to take a 7-0 lead. Tristan Maddox tripled to start the inning and Loya doubled to score Maddox. Cummings was hit by a pitch and pinch runner Anahi Ramirez came around to score on a wild pitch.

ETBU struck again in the fourth to get the run rule victory. Ramirez walked, Evan Garcia reached on an infield hit, and Green singled to load the bases, setting up a walk off triple by Kelley to secure the 10-0 win and finish the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record.

After the game, the team was able to hand out scripture bracelets and spend time sharing about life in the states with several of the teams in the tournament, as well as a couple of youth teams who were competing on the fields surrounding the facility.

Today we finished up our games in the tournament and I’m so glad we ended on a positive note with a victory over Victoria 10-0. We had outstanding performances on the mound, defense, and offense all around from the girls this week. After the game we were able to chat with some of the other teams and a youth team who was playing near by and then we walked down near the beach for a nice lunch together before it was time to head to the airport to travel back to Sydney. We made it safely to Sydney and back to our at the hotel after midnight. It was a long day but we are ready to rest up for church tomorrow and a fun and eventful day
