TAME | SB | Australia Recap #7

On Monday, ETBU Tiger Softball Team headed to SecondBites, a Christian ministry located in Sydney, to help pack meals for local citizens as a part of the Tiger Athletic Mission Experience trip to Australia.

SecondBites’ mission is to rescue food, minimize food waste and provide it free of charge to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity through the region and the team was able to spend the morning packing over 950 bags of meals for the Christmas weekend.

After lunch, the group headed to Bondi Beach for a little relaxation at the beach and shopping around town. They returned to the hotel to pack, as the team will serve at a local church for a majority of the day tomorrow before beginning their trip back to Texas on Tuesday evening.

Today we started off at SecondBites, which is a warehouse that takes donated food from grocery stores around Sydney. The groceries are divided up into bags and are given to those in need. Today we helped pack 972 bags filled with groceries that will help people get through Christmas. I was able to help by breaking down boxes, filling bags, and writing personal notes that were put in each bag. Being able to work with my friends and teammates this morning helped me realize how fortunate we are to be able to serve others and further our mission in being servant leaders. After service, we were able to go to Bondi Beach and spend the day. We walked around the city and we’re able shop and try local restaurants.
