TAME | SB | Australia Recap #8

The ETBU Softball Team spent their final day in Sydney, Australia serving at the Living Hope Church at Camperdown as a part of their Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) trip.

The team was divided into several groups for the morning service activities. Half of the team helped wrap Christmas gifts for church members, while the the others divided into five groups of five to canvas the local neighborhoods, inviting the neighbors to the church’s food pantry and other outreach activities.

The team enjoyed a barbecue lunch with the church volunteers and staff, as well as several members of the community.  The student-athletes led those in attendance in a number of Christmas carols and finished up the day with several of the players sharing about Christmas in Texas and what Christmas means to them and their faith.

Today was our last day in Australia and we spent the morning at a local church where we had the opportunity to walk the streets of Australia and invite people in the area out to enjoy some fellowship and free food. I know for me, it was so cool to see some of my teammates share with others on the street about what our mission was and what the true reason for the season is. We were partnered with SecondBites and Mission Australia again today, and we were able to see where all the food that our team prepared the previous day got to go. It was so awesome to get to see the impact we made on people today through not just the things given, but also the carols and speeches given by some of my teammates and it was really impacting to listen to my teammates share what the birth of Christ genuinely means for them. We are now heading back home and we are so excited to share with our families what this trip meant for us and how we’ve all been able to see the Lord working throughout these past 12 days.
