MARSHALL, Texas – East Texas Baptist University announced a change of leadership for the Tiger Bass Fishing program, as Head Coach Cameron Burger hands the reigns to former National Champion Kaden Proffitt. Burger has served at ETBU for 10 years as the Head Bass Fishing Coach, as well as Director of Construction, where he has played a major part in numerous construction projects across campus. Burger is taking a role as Director of Outdoor Pursuits and Lake Management at Freestone Lake and Golf in Fairfield, Texas.
“While we are sad to see Cameron depart ETBU, we are very excited for this new opportunity for him and his family. During his time on the Hill, Cameron has built a Christ-centered bass fishing program that continually competed at a high-level both regionally and nationally. He has helped set the standard for the Tiger anglers and ETBU will forever be grateful for his hard work, dedication, and leadership," Senior Vice President for Campus Life Ryan Erwin said.
Burger led ETBU to new heights starting the Tiger Bass program in 2016 and immediately making an impact with anglers qualifying for a national tournament. ETBU has never missed a National Tournament with anglers qualifying every year for either the MLF or Bassmaster’s National Tournament. ETBU won the FLW Southern Conference in 2019 and the MLF College Division National Championship in 2022.
