Braxton Ladwig netted the game-winning goal with 40 seconds left in the match, pulling off a come-from-behind victory over Concordia University Texas, 3-2. Ladwig hit the game-winner off
Joshua Daley's assist at 89:18, putting ETBU ahead after the match was tied 2-2 in the 78
th minute by
Lucas Arreguin. This is the second 3-0 start under head coach
Chris Crawford in three years.
Ladwig scored twice on three shots, put two attempts on goal, and recorded the game-winning goal. Daley finished with two assists and led the Tigers with four shots. Arreguin added a goal on his lone shot.
Ryan Lord made five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. ETBU took 21 shots with 13 on goal while CTX had 14 shots and seven on goal.
Ladwig put ETBU in front in the 13th minute, finishing Daley's assist for a 1-0 lead. To start the match, the Tigers recorded five shots and three corner kicks in the opening 7:12, then added five more shots from 36:23 through 44:27. Lord made four saves as ETBU took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
ETBU answered after Concordia (TX) went ahead 2-1 at 75:58, as Arreguin scored from
Dawson Lopez's assist at 77:42 to make it 2-2. The Tigers added a corner kick, a
Jacob Whittington shot, and a Daley shot on goal before Daley set up Ladwig's goal at 89:18 for a 3-2 lead. The score held through the end of the second half, giving ETBU a 3-2 win.
Ladwig pointed to Josh Daley's work in creating chances after the Tigers' win, saying, "My guy Josh Daley, what a game he had as I need to give him props." Ladwig added that Daley "assisted both my goals," describing the setup by saying, "He was on the breakaway, then worked hard to get the ball back, and then I just saw the space in behind, and he played a great ball to me." From there, Ladwig said, "I saw the keeper come out, took it around him, and there was an open goal from there."
ETBU visits Belhaven University on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at noon at Belhaven Bowl Stadium in Jackson, Miss.
