ETBU Athletics Inducts Four into 2025 Hall of Fame

MARSHALL, Texas - East Texas Baptist University honored four distinguished individuals during Homecoming Weekend as the newest inductees into the ETBU Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2025 Hall of Fame Class includes former student-athletes Janna (Wilson) Graham (women’s soccer), Aaron Erickson (men’s soccer), Josiah Jones (baseball), and student-trainer Jace Duke (special recognition – athletic training). The induction ceremony took place Saturday afternoon in celebration of their outstanding contributions to ETBU Athletics.

ETBU Athletics is proud to welcome these four exceptional and deserving individuals into the Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame. Their dedication, passion, and excellence left an incredible mark on the ETBU campus community. Jace, Aaron, Janna, and Josiah represent the best of what it means to be an ETBU Tiger. Their accomplishments in athletics and in their respective callings, as well as their commitment to living out their faith have left a lasting mark on our program and in their communities. We celebrate their impact and appreciate their efforts which helped shape ETBU Athletics into what it is today.

2025 ETBU Athletics Hall of Fame
What a special day for our University and athletic program. Having had the privilege of being a student-athlete alongside all four Hall of Fame inductees, this moment feels truly full circle. Each of them made a tremendous impact within their respective teams and disciplines, but their influence has only grown beyond their playing days. They continue to build on the foundation established during their time at ETBU, using their gifts and platforms to make a difference in the lives of others. Their continued example is a testament to the transformational opportunities and growth fostered through our athletic program at East Texas Baptist University.
JANAE SHIRLEY | HEAD SOFTBALL COACH & SENIOR WOMAN ADMINISTRATOR

Janna (Wilson) Graham | Women’s Soccer

After graduating from Pine Tree High School, Janna Wilson Graham came to East Texas Baptist University in the Fall of 2003. The Longview native played forward for the Tiger Women’s Soccer team for four years.  During her time at ETBU, she earned numerous awards. She emerged as a breakout athlete during her freshman year, garnering All-ASC East Division First Team, ASC First Team, ASC All-Academic, and ETBU Offensive MVP honors.  The education major did not slowdown in her sophomore year, as she was named to the All-ASC First Team and received ASC All-Academic and ETBU Offensive MVP honors.  

 

Janna earned ASC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, and ASC All-Academic during her junior season.  She led the nation in goals with 28 and received the Top Tiger Award and ETBU Offensive MVP.  In her senior season, she earned USC Scholar All-American, NSCAA College Division Second Team, D3Kicks.com South Region Third Team, ASC First Team, ASC All-Academic team, ETBU Offensive MVP, and the Top Tiger Award for a second time.  She finished her career with 73 goals, 45 assists, and 191 total points, and she accrued 40 goals and 40 assists in ASC play.  

 

In the Spring of 2007, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in Science from ETBU, winning All-Academic every year she played for the Tigers. 

 

Janna and her husband, Jared, have been married for 12 years. They have two daughters, Olivia, who is nine, and Charlotte, who is seven. Her daughters compete in soccer, cheer, and gymnastics. Janna is the head soccer coach for Olivia and Charlotte's teams and teaches at Spring Hill High School. She has taught the Gifted and Talented program, UIL, and math and science for 12 years. Before Spring Hill, she taught at her former high school, Pine Tree, for seven years. Janna is in her 19th year of teaching.


Aaron Erickson | Men’s Soccer

After graduating from Pine Tree High School, Aaron Erickson attended East Texas Baptist University in the Fall of 2003, playing for the Tiger Men's Soccer team as a forward.  In his career, Erickson scored 41 goals and added 19 assists.  He is currently ranked third in the ETBU record books for career scoring and points, as well as fifth in assists.  

 

Erickson was named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Offensive MVP and to the ASC First Team in 2005, the ASC Second Team in 2003 and 2006, and the ASC Third Team in 2004.  He was named ASC Player of the Week twice during his time at ETBU.   

 

Erickson graduated from ETBU with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2008.  He has served as the Head Girls’ Soccer Coach for the Hallsville High School Girls’ team for the past 11 years, as well as a first-grade teacher at Hallsville East Elementary.  In total, Erickson has been coaching for 16 years and has a career record of 231-60-33. He previously served as a supervisor in the gym floor refinishing industry for 20 years.  

 

Erickson resides in Longview, Texas, and is married to Trish.  They have two daughters, Avery and Parker.


2025 ETBU Athletics Hall of Fame

Josiah Jones | Baseball

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Josiah Jones arrived on the campus of East Texas Baptist University in the Fall of 2002.  During his four-year career with the Tiger Baseball Team, he played in 136 games with 441 at-bats, producing 140 RBI and 32 homeruns, where he currently ranks second all-time in the ETBU record books for RBI and third for homeruns.   

 

Jones was honored as the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Hitter of the Week three times throughout his career, while gaining national recognition on March 6, 2006, as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week.  The 2006 season was one that landed Jones on the ASC East Honorable Mention team. In the ETBU record books, Jones ranks 10th in runs scored (121) and 12th in triples (7).   In 2005, his best collegiate season, he hit 13 home runs and 50 RBI in 155 at-bats over 45 games.  

 

In 2007, Jones attended an open tryout for the Kansas City T-Bones, an independent baseball team in the Northern League, where he was invited to Spring Training and made the opening day roster as the starting left fielder.  

 

Jones graduated from ETBU with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2006.  He currently serves on staff with Armada, a discipleship movement for men in Dallas, Texas.  Since 2007, Josiah has been in ministry, having previously served on staff at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. 

 

He currently resides in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, Cathy, and their three children, Camille, Isabella, and Caleb. 


Jace Duke | Special Recognition – Athletic Training

A native of Ore City, Jace came to East Texas Baptist University in 1998 as a student athletic trainer. In this role, he worked with multiple sports, providing care to athletes and assisting with obtaining accreditation for the athletic training program. While at ETBU, he also served as the student athletic trainer for the women’s basketball team during the 1999-2000 season, during which they finished as NCCAA National Runners-Up. Additionally, he worked with the men’s soccer team at the NCCAA National Championship in 1999.  Additionally, he served as the assistant softball coach from 2000 to 2001, during which the team was crowned ASC Champions and competed for the NCCAA National Championship.  Duke also worked with the Sports Information Department as a basketball and football statistician at home games. 

 

Duke graduated from ETBU with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (2002) and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Tyler (2014).  Duke is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association, Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association, and Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society (GHATS). 

 

He is a seasoned healthcare leader, currently serving as the Senior Director of Employer Health Solutions and Athletic Training at Houston Methodist Hospital. In this role, he develops system-wide corporate strategies, leads high-performing teams, and fosters strong relationships with senior leadership and business partners. With over two decades of experience in athletic training and healthcare management, Duke has been instrumental in integrating and directing services for more than 120 athletic trainers across Houston Methodist’s system, enhancing both patient care and employee engagement. 

 

Recognized for his service and contributions, he has earned significant recognition, including induction into the GHATS Hall of Honor, GHATS two service awards, Bobby Gunn and Tom Wilson Awards for dedicated service, the John Kelly Distinguished Service Award from the Greater Houston Football Coaches’ Association, Houston Methodist ICARE Award, and multiple leadership appointments on state and regional task forces. 

 

Currently, Jace resides in League City, Texas, with his wife of 19 years, Deidre, and daughter Jaycee (16). In his spare time, he enjoys upland hunting, golf, traveling, and supporting Jaycee in her amateur golf career.
