ACADEMICS

The ETBU athletic department continues to be one of the top academic programs in NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference producing Academic All-Americans, ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, team academic awards, and other academic individual awards. Since 2014-15, ETBU has won 19 ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete awards, had 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, and 11 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. ETBU is also the only school in the ASC to have two NCAA Top 9 Women of the Year finalists and a baseball CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year.

Conner Combs is the only American Southwest Conference baseball player to earn the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year award being voted the top academic baseball player in NCAA Division III in 2016 and 2017.

NCAA Woman of the Year Top 9

ETBU is the only American Southwest Conference member to have two student-athletes named to the NCAA Woman of the Year Top 9. Only three NCAA Division III female student-athletes are chosen each year for a chance to be named NCAA Woman of the Year. ETBU softball student-athletes Lya Swaner (2013) and Jayme (Perez) McNeill (2017) have made awarded Top 9 status.

In the American Southwest Conference, ETBU continues to earn major academic awards each year. The 2020-21 year was the best for ETBU as they lead the ASC with five Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. Since the award was started in 2009, ETBU has produced 23 ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes with 19 coming since the 2014-15 season.

ETBU leads the ASC with ABCA team academic awards in the past seven years. They have earned the award in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016.

The ETBU Softball Team continues to lead the ASC in academic excellence with 66 players earning NFCA Scholar-Athlete Team awards since 2014.

The United Soccer Coaches hand out elite academic awards every year to regional players for their grade point average. It is extremely hard to receive All-Region academic awards in the West Region. ETBU has been given five in the past three years.
