Farrah Dunaway

Farrah Dunaway enters her ffifth year as the Tiger Cheer Coach at East Texas Baptist University. Prior to ETBU, she was the cheer coach at Marshall High School for three years. She returns to ETBU also coaching the Tigers from 2002-05. She left ETBU and went to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor from 2005-2012 to be the cheer coach. Dunaway is also the Acrobatics and Tumbling coach for ETBU entering her fourth year after starting the program in 2019.

“I am fortunate to have been called home to ETBU,” says Dunaway. “I have played sports all of my life and I love being able to take the work ethic I have gained as a student athlete and apply that to the sport of cheerleading. I believe that team success cannot be obtained without a mutual respect and trust. Our goal is to rebuild those with a focus on discipleship, integrity, mental-toughness, and perseverance.”

In 2005 while at ETBU, Dunaway helped ETBU earn the 2005 CCA National Championship.

During the 7-year stint with UMHB CRU cheer, Dunaway developed team-building programs, conducted cheer camps, and judged cheer tryouts for middle schools, high schools and universities throughout Central Texas.

Dunaway additionally earned the CRU the Texas State Cheer Championship, and 5th place in the 2011 NCA National Mascot Championship, DI-III.

While at Marshall High, Dunaway led Maverick Cheer to a top 20 NCA ranking and produced over 30 All- American Cheer and Mascot Nominees, and 4 All- American recipients.

Dunaway is married to Head MHS Baseball Coach, Derek Dunaway, and has two children, Mia Faith and Tyler Dylan. She is a 2000 graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
