ETBU ATHLETIC TRAINING

The mission of the East Texas Baptist University Athletic Training Department is to provide the highest level of service to the student-athletes at East Texas Baptist University. This includes the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, as well as helping to direct the nutritional, psychological and physiological needs of the student-athlete. These services will be delivered with objectivity and a conscientious blend of concern for the healing of the student-athlete's body, mind and spirit.

The ETBU Athletic Training staff is comprised of Nationally Certified and State Licensed athletic trainers. Athletic Trainers (AT's) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide medical services to an active population. The Athletic Training staff is responsible for preparing student-athletes for daily practices and weekly competitions, as well as coordination of medical referrals to local physicians and other medical professionals. Treatment and rehabilitation of injuries takes place in one of two athletic training facilities located either in the Dean Healthplex or the Carlile-Howell Football Complex.

The ETBU Athletic Training Staff and Athletic Training Students seek to model Christ's teachings of servant leadership, as well as follow the mission of East Texas Baptist University and the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

A written request from an AT must accompany the team in order for us to provide any modality other than hot packs or ice. Our staff will be happy to assist your team with its taping and/or wrapping needs; we simply ask that student-athletes provide their own taping supplies. Please contact the host athletic trainer for the sport or head athletic trainer with any specific requests.

Weather-related Concerns:
For sports that could be affected by inclement weather, the host athletic trainer for the sport will have access to our mobile weather monitoring service, DTN/WeatherSentry. Hazardous weather conditions, particularly lightning-producing thunderstorms, will be monitored closely. Lightning within a radius of 8 miles will require everyone to clear the field and take cover in either a nearby structure or team vans/bus. This information will be communicated to officials, coaches and game administrator. Please refer to the ETBU Lightning Policy for more details.
