Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Scoring a single goal in each half, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team prevailed, 2-0, against host University of the Ozarks (Ark.) on Thursday afternoon at Hurie Soccer Field. Aided by a pair of Heather Brady goals, ETBU advances to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in American Southwest Conference play. Ozarks sinks to 2-6-2 on the season and 1-2 in ASC match play.
En route to their eight-consecutive victory in the series, ETBU held an 8-to-4 advantage in shots, while attempting an identical number of corner kicks as Ozarks (3-to-3). During the opening 30 minutes of play, Ozarks actually held a 3-to-1 edge in terms of shots on-goal, including two by Haley Gilliam. But all three attempts were stopped by ETBU's Christina Salas for goalkeeper saves as neither team scored.
In the 38th minute, Brady tallied a goal with Chase Swann earning an assist on the play. Just a shade over 44 minutes later, Brady scored the match's final goal in the 82nd minute with Erin Miller receiving an assist. Salas and the entire ETBU defensive unit recorded their first shutout this season. She made four saves during the match. Ozarks goalkeeper Megan Bradford stopped three shots.
ETBU competes next at 12th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday. Opening kick is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
