Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - After tying up the match at 2-2 in 62nd minute, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team ultimately lost, 3-2, at University of the Ozarks (Ark.) on Thursday afternoon at Hurie Soccer Field. The defeat sends ETBU to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference competition. Meanwhile Ozarks ups their overall record to 4-3-2 and 1-1 within ASC matches.
Antoine Bravo put ETBU ahead by a 1-0 margin deep into the 13th minute with teammate Pablo Jaimes earning an assist. Ozarks responded, however, in the 14th minute courtesy of a Bryan Lemus to knot up the match at 1-1. Stewart Mena's successful penalty-kick conversion during the 19th minute gave Ozarks a 2-1 advantage that they carried to the halftime buzzer.
ETBU tied the match, 2-2, via Justin Adams' goal in the 62nd minute as Matthew Argenbright earned an assist. Ozarks tallied the decisive goal in the early seconds of the 73rd minute as Johnson Cijulus scored from mid-range. ETBU held a 9-to-6 edge in shots and also attempted nine corner kicks compared to just a pair by Ozarks. In goal for Ozarks, Austin Benner made three saves.
ETBU plays next at 7 p.m. on Saturday at University of Texas-Tyler.
