Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – In a matchup between American Southwest Conference programs, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team prevailed over Louisiana College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Cornish Field. With the second-consecutive win in as many afternoons, ETBU improves to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in ASC matches. Louisiana College falls to 3-11 this season and 0-5 within ASC competition.
All three goals in the match were scored within a 16-plus-minute span during the first half. In the early moments of the 22nd minute, Nathalia Lomax kicked in a deflection inside the Louisiana College box to make it a 1-0 lead for ETBU. Kristyn Alfaro and Heather Brady each were credited with an assist on the goal.
Later on during the opening half, Erin Miller dribbled toward the Louisiana College goal and then sent a high feed across the middle. Amber Campbell headed in Miller's high pass near the left side of the box for a 2-0 ETBU edge in the 31st minute. Louisiana College would slice deficit to a single goal in the 38th minute. Following a foul assessed against ETBU, Shannon French softly served the free kick into the ETBU box, and teammate Jayme Harmon finished with a kick to put Louisiana College on the board.
ETBU completed the match with a 21-to-6 advantage in shots, including a 12-to-3 edge in shots on-goal. Christina Salas made a pair of saves in net for ETBU, while Haley Clark stopped 10 shots in goal for Louisiana College.
ETBU competes next on the road against ASC opponent Texas Dallas at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
