MARSHALL, Texas – In their American Southwest Conference opener, the East Texas Baptist University (1-6, 1-0 ASC) men's soccer team pulled through for a 2-0 win against LeTourneau University (Texas) on Friday night at Cornish Field. Gustavo Vasquez netted both goals helping ETBU to start the ASC schedule off 1-0.

Vasquez tallied both of the match's goals, scoring in the 12th and 36th minutes, respectively. His first goal came on a service from teammate David Jackson that he trapped, gathered in and kicked in for a 1-0 ETBU lead. He closed out the night's scoring following a throw-in from teammate Matthew Argenbright and a quick pass from Antoine Bravo to account for the final 2-0 score.

ETBU finished the match with an 18-to-10 edge in shots and totaled an identical six corner kicks. Juan Perales stopped three saves in goal for ETBU, while LETU goalkeeper Miguel Cabrera stopped five stops.

ETBU travels to Clarksville, Arkansas, for another conference match at University of the Ozarks (Ark.) on Thursday starting at 3 p.m.
