Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – In another close American Southwest Conference match, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer earned their second conference win over the University of the Ozark , 1-0. ETBU used a one-on-one goal from Amber Campbell to secure the win late in the 1st half to improve ETBU's overall record to 4-2-3, and their ASC record to 2-1-1. Ozarks drops to 4-5-1 overall, and 2-2-1 in ASC play.
The game was under control in the first half by ETBU as they put constant pressure on Ozarks, outshooting their competition 9-1 in the first period. Campbell finally capitalized on one of their many chances and struck a ball around the goalie on a nice assist from Alexis Smith. Campbell beat the goal, Kiara Henry, in a one-on-one situation to give ETBU the lead late in the first half.
In the second half, it was a battle of field position until the very end as Ozarks and ETBU both had chances to score. The defenses prevailed in the second half, holding the score in favor of ETBU, 1-0 over Ozarks to extend their winning streak to 10 consecutive wins over the Eagles. In those 10 contests, ETBU is outscoring Ozarks 16-0.
Rebecca McCarron led Ozarks with two shots and two shots on goal. Henry was tallied with the loss for Ozarks. Erin Miller and Heather Brady each shot the ball four times to lead ETBU, and both had two shots on goal to lead ETBU in that category as well. Campbell tallied her third goal of the season, and Smith received her first assist of the season.
ETBU will return to action with two road ASC matches next week. On Thursday, ETBU will travel to Pineville, Louisiana to take on Louisiana College. They will wrap up their weekend road trip with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff versus Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi.
