Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Texas at Dallas scored three goals in the first half handing East Texas Baptist University an American Southwest Conference loss at home, 4-1, women's soccer. UT Dallas improves to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in ASC play. ETBU falls to 5-4-4 overall and 3-2-2 in ASC play.
After UT Dallas scored three goals in the first half, ETBU responded in the 62nd minute to put pressure on the Comets. UT Dallas added another goal in the 75th minute to put away the game and extend the lead to 4-1.
Melissa Fulfer capitalized on a Jacquie Kaufman pass to give UT Dallas an early lead in the 8th minute. Megan Mugavero scored in the 25th minute on another assist from Kaufman. Fulfer scored her second goal of the half in the 34th minute to extend the lead by three goals. Gabrielle Henley notched her second goal of the season in the 62nd minute off an assist from Abbey Sturdivant, but UT Dallas scored on a Jessica Rusk goal from a Mugavero assist to cap off the scoring for the evening.
UT Dallas was led by Fulfer who had two goals, Mugavero added one goal and two assists, Kaufman had two assists, and Rusk finished with one goal. UT Dallas shot 19 times with 12 shots on goal in the contest.
ETBU was led by Henley who had the one goal for the Tigers, and by Sturdivant who had the one assists. Henley led ETBU in shots with three and Erin Miller had two shots, followed by Kendall Vogt with one shot and one shot on goal. ETBU had six shots and two shots on goal.
Lexy Montgomery had seven saves in the loss in the net for ETBU. Monica Dallacasa was awarded the win in the net for UT Dallas and had one save on the day.
ETBU returns to action next weekend on the road for two ASC matches with Concordia University on Friday and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.
