Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – Hanging with one of the top teams in the American Southwest Conference, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team fell short against University of Texas at Dallas, 3-1. UT Dallas improves to 9-3-1 overall and 6-0-1 in ASC play, while ETBU drops to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in ASC play.
UT Dallas got on the board first in the 28th minute from a goal by Danny Meyer off an assist from Sam Konstanty. The match would remain 1-0 until the 56th minute off another Meyer goal off an assist from Daaron McFarling. David Jackson put pressure on UT Dallas after converting a penalty kick in the 76th minute, but UT Dallas would respond 24 seconds later with a goal by Andrew Jenson to cap the scoring off at 3-1.
UT Dallas was led by Danny Meyer with four shots and two goals scored. Alfredo Kaegi also had four shots and two shots on goal. Joseph Weber was notched as the winning goal keeper with one save and one goal allowed.
ETBU was led offensively by David Jackson who had three shots and one goal. Jordan Burke put two shots toward the goal as well for ETBU. Bryant Botello was given the loss in the net after allowing three goals. Botello also had eight saves on the night.
ETBU returns to action next week with two road ASC matches. ETBU will travel to Concordia University on Friday and then will travel to face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. Both matches will be played after the women's matches.
