Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – After falling behind early, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team could not overcome an early deficit in a 5-0 American Southwest Conference loss to Concordia University. Concordia improves to 10-3 overall and to 5-2 in ASC play. ETBU drops to 8-7 overall and to 3-4 in ASC play.
Concordia struck early in the 9th minute to give the Tornados an early lead. The first half would remain the same, but Concordia found the back of the net twice in the first 10 minutes in the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. Cocnordia tacked on goal in the 65th minute and the 82nd minute to cap off the scoring.
ETBU was outshot 18-5 by Concordia, with Concordia firing 13 shots on goal compared to two for ETBU.
Isaiah Coombs had one goal and assist for Concordia. Fabian Billings, Alejandro Labastida, CJ Linn, and Erik Villalba scored goal for the Tornados. Linn notched an assist, as did Omar Aguirre and Rob Oakley.
Sean Dempsey led ETBU with two shots and one shot on goal. Davis Jackson had one shot and one shot on goal, and Joel Botello and Christian Galvan each had one shot.
ETBU returns to action tomorrow night bersus Mary Hardin-Baylor in another pivotal ASC matchup at 7:30 p.m. The match will follow the women's match.
