RECAP: ETBU Can't Find Net in 3-0 ASC Loss

BELTON, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team fell to the Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team in Belton Saturday night 3-0 in an American Southwest Conference match. ETBU drops to 8-8 overall and to 3-5 in ASC play. UMHB improves to 10-4-1 overall and to 6-1-1 in ASC play.

Jason Goodin opened scoring for UMHB in the 14th minute off a Sean Diamond assist. Oliver Ortiz scored off an assist by McKenna Cook and Jordan Freeman in the 33rd minute. UMHB capped off scoring in the 42nd minute on a Diamond goal.

ETBU was outshot 22-45in the contest, with UMHB having 16 shots on goal. Bryant Botello had 13 saves on the night for ETBU in the losing effort. Javier Zaragoza earned the win after the shutout performance.

UMHB was led by Cook with six shots and four shots on goal. Caleb Latson had four shots and four shots on goal.

Landon Malone and Jordan Burke had two shots each followed by Joel Ramirez with one.

ETBU returns to action next weekend for the regular season finale against McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University. Saturday will be one final “hoorah” at home for the seniors at Cornish Field. The matches will take place at 6:30 p.m., right after the women's soccer matches.
