Box Score SEGUIN, Texas – Closing out their season with some momentum, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team defeated Birmingham-Southern College in five sets (25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25, 15-10). BSC falls to 21-6 overall on the season. ETBU improves to 10-12 overall, and will move onto the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.
ETBU jumped out in the first set and won 25-16 to gain control of the match. ETBU won a tight second set over BSC, but BSC rebounded and won the next two sets 25-20 and 25-16 to even the match up at two sets a piece. ETBU won the decisive fifth set to close out their regular season with a win.
Marjorie Ward led BSC with 13 kills, 21 assists, and 12 digs. Chloe Ballard and Rebecca Erwin each had 12 kills in the contest, followed by Ashley Dodson with 11. Rachel Lee finished the day 28 assists. Caroline Johnson led BSC with 27 digs and Melaina Hissam finished with 17 digs. BSC hit .190 as a team.
Mallory Sanders led the Tigers with 24 kills, Abby Weaver and Allison Sevening finished with 12 kills and 10 kills respectively. Kayla Green had 27 assists to led ETBU, and Elyse Shaw was second with 22 assists. Shaw led ETBU with 20 digs, Lauren Jarrell had 19 digs, and Morgan Rupp and Sanders finished with 18 digs. ETBU hit .262 as a team.
ETBU will return to action on Thursday against Hardin-Simmons University at the ASC Conference Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor November 3rd through the 5th.
