TYLER, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team traveled to Tyler, Texas, for the ITA Regional Championships and came away with some great finishes including two victories in the events.

In the B singles draw, Cody Highsmith came away with a quarter finalist finish following wins over Jonah Martinez (Ozarks) at 7-6(4), 6-2 and Nick Roccaforte (Texas Lutheran) 6-2, 6-2 before losing to Edgar Torres (Howard Payne) 7-6(6), 6-1. Joseph Salinas made the most of his appearance in C singles with wins over Connor Dunmore (Texas Lutheran) 6-1, 6-0, Dan Habenicht (Hendrix) 6-2, 6-3, and Brian Martin (Mary Hardin-Baylor) 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Unfortunately, the semi-finals match went unfinished.

John Herr won the Singles Orange event with wins over Chase Van Cleave (UMHB) 6-4, 6-0, Victor Martinez (Schreiner) 6-4, 6-0, Matthew Eurek (Hardin-Simmons) 6-1, 6-2, and Marco Miranda (Texas-Tyler) 7-6, 6-2.

Highsmith and Herr paired up to reach the semifinals in the B Doubles Draw with wins over Robby Bundy/Kevin Warren (LeTourneau) 8-1, Logan Daniel/Lucio Valenzuela (McMurry) 8-3, and Ian McVinney/Karthik Garimella (Hendrix) before losing to Vitor Laporte/Cade Navarro (Texas-Tyler) 8-1. Connor Mason and Rollin Houk had a quarterfinal run including victories over Martinez/Akavian Cunningham (Ozarks) 8-3, Jimmie Henson/Alex Hernandez (LeTourneau) 8-6 before falling to Ryan Beene/Carlos Subealdea (Texas Lutheran) 8-3.

In C Doubles Draw, Ty Tarver and Joseph Salinas reached the quarterfinals picking up wins against Zach Miller/Bryan Blair (McMurry) 8-4, and Jacob Morgan/Safe Rahman (Austin College) 9-8 (5) before losing to Marvin Griener/Alfonso Medina (Texas-Tyler) 8-3. Ross Houk teamed up with Dexter Palmer to win the Oranges Doubles with wins over Ej Cantu/Antonio Pauda (McMurry) 8-6, Elijah Ballard/Phillip Crook Hendrix (Hendrix), and Zac Crowley-Kurth/Collin Patterson (LeTourneau) 8-4.
