Box Score GEORGETOWN, Texas - In their second game of the Southwestern University Classic, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team could not keep pace with Texas Lutheran University as they fell 78-57. Sade Murrell led ETBU with 13 points.
Outscored in the first three quarters, ETBU trailed 45-31 at halftime. The deficit would then be 62-41 in the third quarter. ETBU would only match TLU in the fourth quarter as both teams scored 16 points for the final result. With the loss, ETBU drops to 0-4 on the season.Â
For the game, ETBU finished shooting 26.8% from the floor to TLU's 40.6%. ETBU shot 16.7% from behind the three-point line to the 22.2% made by TLU. TLU also had a higher free-throw percentage than ETBU by way of 74.1% to 63.2%. Â
Murrell also added five rebounds and two steals while Malaisia Chisholm picked up 10 points, two steals and three assists as well. Lauren Lee had eight points while Jhaenniece Rasberry had seven points and Kaitlyn Packett had six points.Â
TLU was led by three players in double figures. Kristen Lye had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Savannah Hight had 13 points while Cierra Jordan had 12 points for the Bulldogs.Â
ETBU will head on the road this weekend as they travel to Abilene, Texas, to open American Southwest Conference play. On Thursday, ETBU plays Hardin-Simmons at 5:30 pm. Then on Saturday, ETBU will be at McMurry for a 1:00 pm start.Â
