Box Score ABILENE, Texas – A tough first and third quarter proved to be East Texas Baptist University's downfall as they dropped their first American Southwest Conference game of the year to Hardin-Simmons, 63-51. ETBU now is 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the ASC.
As a team, ETBU hit for 32% from the field, 23.5% from three–point range, and 62.5% from the free throw line. HSU faired better with 44.8% from the field, and 66.7% from the free throw line. They only made 20% from three-point range.
ETBU had two players in double figures. Kaitlyn Packett posted a career-high 14 points, which included four of seven from three point range, and grabbed five rebounds, which tied her for the team lead. Malaisia Chisholm tallied 10 points while Sade' Murrell collected nine points and four rebounds. Hannah Holt had seven points and five rebounds.
The Cowgirls were led by a 20-point performance by Heidi Schroeder and 11 by Jasmine McClellan. Kayla Brown led all players with 12 rebounds.
ETBU will resume their road trip in Abilene as they will play McMurry on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
