Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – After more than a week off of the court, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Texas Lutheran University 66-55, in their first game of the LETU Classic. ETBU falls to 0-10 overall this season, while TLU improves to 8-2 overall.
ETBU fell behind early in the first quarter, but ended up taking the lead 16-12 over TLU. TLU used a big second quarter to take the lead at the break 29-25. A back-and-forth third quarter brought the score to 43-41, in favor of TLU. ETBU tied the game at 51-51, until TLU used a 6-0 run to take the lead for good, as they knocked down free throws late in the game.
Kristen Lye led the way for TLU with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Savannah Hight added all points, and Cierra Jordan finished with 10 points. TLU shot 38.7% from the floor in the contest.
Lauren Lee led ETBU with 12 points. Delia Hopkins finished with a double-double, the first of the season, with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Hannah Holt added 11 points and nine rebounds. ETBU shot 36.7% from the floor, and 87.5% from the free throw line.
ETBU will play again tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., this time against Schreiner University. Schreiner is playing LeTourneau University today, and enter the weekend 1-8 overall.
