MARSHALL, Texas – In its penultimate regular-season match, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team was a 9-0 winner over the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) on Friday afternoon at the Veterans Memorial Tennis Complex. Prior to the first serve, ETBU acknowledged senior Tyler Tolopka, a four-year member of the program.
ETBU ups its overall record to 5-8 and is now 2-1 in American Southwest Conference East Division matches.
During the doubles play, ETBU came out ahead, 3-0, with each flight ending in a different score. Rollin Houk and Connor Mason paired up in the third-seeded flight and won by an 8-0 margin. In the No. 2 match, Dillon Deatherage and Ryan Perace teamed for an 8-2 victory. Cody Highsmith and Tyler Tolopka prevailed in the No. 1-seeded match, 8-5. Later on in the singles competition, the action yet again went decidedly in ETBU's favor. In winning all six flights, ETBU dropped a combined seven games.
ETBU will complete a suspended match against LeTourneau University on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
