#TIGERSWIN: ETBU Routs Jarvis Christian 5-0

Box Score

MARSHALL, Texas – In a very convincing way, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team dominated all aspects of the match tonight against Jarvis Christian College winning 5-0. Shots were fired from all angles as ETBU racked up a season high 31, with 17 of those shots being on goal, and five finding the back of the net.

Megan Friend got the snowball rolling for ETBU with a goal in the 13th minute. Friend intercepted a JCC pass and fired a shot into the lower left corner of the goal for her first goal of the season. JCC left Erin Miller completely alone 10 minutes later as she converted her second goal in as many games. Amber Campbell found the back of the net for her first goal of the season a minute after substituting into the match for ETBU in the 25th minute off of a misplayed ball by JCC. The three goals in the first half set a season high for goals in one game.

ETBU was not done though as Kristi Freund scored off of an assist by Heather Brady in the 59th minute to score the first goal of the second half. Brady capped off the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 81st minute to stretch the lead to 5-0. ETBU set a season high with 16 shots in the first half, and almost equaled the total with 15 shots in the second half.

It was also a combined shutout for Karrigan Falber and Lexy Montgomery who stopped one shot and only faced two overall shots.

“I am so glad to get our first win at home. The girls really showed their quality tonight with five different players each scoring a goal, and all goals in the run of play. Really proud of our effort and the way with which we competed and played 90 minutes. Also I am super happy with our defense for earning their second clean sheet of the season,” said head coach Erik Solberg after today's match.

ETBU will return to action this Saturday with their American Southwest Conference opener at Sul Ross State University at 4:00 p.m. in Alpine, Texas.
