MARSHALL, Texas - It may have taken a little longer than normal, but the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team used late game heroics in the final 10 minutes of the match to come away with a road victory in overtime at LeTourneau University, 2-1. Erin Miller scored the game winning goal for ETBU 2 minutes into the first overtime period to end the match, and secure the first American Southwest Conference win for the team this season.

ETBU outshot LETU on the night nine to seven overall. LETU got the scoring going for the night in the 31st minute with a goal from Rebekah Stevenson. Stevenson blocked a clearance from ETBU and converted the goal to give LETU an early 1-0 lead. The game would remain 1-0 until the 82nd minute when Amber Campbell converted on a pass from Miller to tie the match at 1-1. Miller used one of five corner kicks on the night for ETBU, to tie the match and send it into overtime. 

ETBU did not waste any time into overtime as ETBU took advantage on a missed clearance in the form of Miller. Miller was left alone at the top of the box and fired in a shot to give ETBU its first ASC win of the season to bring their record to 3-1-3, and 1-0-1 in ASC play. LETU will drop to 3-4 on the season, and 0-2 in conference play.

"I am so proud of this team. We showed a ton of character to come back from being a goal down, to get an equalizer in the last ten minutes, and then finish the job in overtime. We showed a ton of resolve and resilience throughout the match, and got the result we deserved. It is especially meaningful to get our first conference win on the road at LeTourneau. I could not be happier," said head coach Erik Solberg after the match against LETU tonight.

ETBU will return to action with two home ASC matches next weekend at Cornish Field. ETBU will face off against University of Texas-Tyler and University of the Ozarks with both matches being 5:00 p.m. kickoffs.
