Box Score MARSHALL, Texas - In a game that featured stellar defense and limited opportunities on both sides of the ball, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team fell in their American Southwest Conference opener to LeTourneau University, 1-0. LETU used a goal in the eighth minute from Guillermo Torres for the game-winning goal early in the contest.
ETBU outshot LETU on the night with eight shots coming from ETBU players and six coming from LETU. ETBU had four shots on goal compared to LETU's two, but it was the Yellow Jackets making the most of there chances. David Jackson led ETBU with two shots, with both of them being shots on goal. Joel Ramirez also had two shots for ETBU, and Jordan Burke and Matthew Argenbright had the other two shots on goal for the Tigers.
Torres converted his only shot for the game-winning goal for LETU. Torres converted a rebound off of a shot from Justin Rojas. Brian Howell earned the victory in the net to improve to 4-2-2 on the season with 4 saves on the night. Bryant Botello was on the losing end to drop his season record to 4-3 for ETBU.
ETBU will return to action next weekend with two home matches in ASC play. ETBU will play University of Texas-Tyler on Friday night at 7:30, and will conclude their weekend with the University of the Ozarks on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
