Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – It was a game of momentum swings as the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team could not capitalize on their chances tonight versus #9 University of Texas at Dallas. UT Dallas won the match in three sets over ETBU, 3-0.
From the beginning of the contest, UT Dallas made ETBU work for every point in the match. At the end of the first set, UT Dallas won 25-20. It would get harder for ETBU as they fell in the second set 25-12, and in the third set 25-13. UT Dallas was able to limit opportunities as ETBU only hit .069 for the match.
Mallory Sanders led ETBU with six kills on the night. Kayla Green was one dig away from another double-double this season. Green had 11 assists on the night, and Elyse Shaw added eight assists of her own. Green and Shaw led ETBU with nine digs and seven digs respectively.
UT Dallas was led offensively by Michelle Toro who had 13 kills, and hit .522 for the match. Caroline Shecterle paced the offense with 39 assists and added 14 digs for a double-double. Dylan Brinkman also added a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. As a team UT Dallas hit a .308 against ETBU.
On the season UT Dallas improves to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in American Southwest Conference play, winning their eighth straight match. ETBU will drop their season record to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the ASC, losing their fourth straight match.
ETBU will return to action on the road again, this time at Belhaven University. The match will be played on Friday September 30th, at 7:00 p.m.
