Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University jumped out to an early lead against the American Southwest Conference East Division leader University of Texas of Dallas, but could not hold on as they fell 60-74 on Thursday night. ETBU falls to 2-14 on the year and 0-8 in ASC play. UT Dallas improves to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in ASC play.
ETBU and UT Dallas had eight lead changes in the first quarter alone before ETBU grabbed a 20-19 lead in the end. UT Dallas knocked down an early three pointer to take the lead for good, as they extended their lead to 40-34 at halftime. UT Dallas would continue their hot shooting as they extended their lead to 18 points late in the third quarter. ETBU would make a comeback attempt but ultimately fell 60-74.
Amanda Wilson led ETBU with a career high 18 points, and her third straight game with seven rebounds. Hannah Holt had 16 points, six steals, and five assists. Brittney Jones had nine points and four steals in the game.
ETBU would shoot 42.4% overall as a team, 18.8% from behind the arc, and 50% from the free throw line. ETBU had 38 points in the paint and 25 points of their bench. ETBU forced 20 UT Dallas turnovers in the game.
UT Dallas was led by Victoria Pena with 16 points, Kayla Reinhart with 11 points, and Alyssa Crockett with 10 points. Megan Badejo has a game high eight rebounds. UT Dallas shot 39% from the floor, 38% from behind the arc, and 73% from the free throw line.
ETBU will have a travel day on Friday, then will resume action on Saturday against the University of the Ozarks. The game will tipoff at 1:00 p.m.
