@ETBU_WS to Face UT Tyler and Ozarks This Week

MARSHALL, Texas- Spending the next two matches on the road, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team is headed to Tyler, Texas, and Arkansas. ETBU sits at 8-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in American Southwest Conference games and opens their road trip in Tyler, Texas, for a matchup against the University of Texas Tyler Patriots on Thursday, Oct. 12. They will close out the week in Clarksville, Ark., for a contest with the Ozarks on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The last time the Tigers matched up against the Patriots the team came up short in a 4-1 loss in the ASC Tournament ending ETBU's season. ETBU is 5-13-1 all-time against Texas Tyler, with their last victory coming in 2013 in a 2-1 win in overtime. The Patriots come into Thursday's match with a record of 7-3 overall, including a 4-3 mark in ASC matches.

The final match of the week will send the Tigers to Clarksville, Ark., to battle the University of the Ozarks on Saturday, Oct. 14. ETBU has handily dominated the all-time match against the Eagles, going 20-1-1 in 22 matches played. ETBU came away with a 1-0 victory in last season's contest against the Ozarks. The Eagles will look to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Sul Ross State on Thursday, Oct. 5, bringing them to 5-6 overall and 1-6 in ASC play.

Leading the attack for the Tigers is Ashleigh Rondon. The freshman has recorded the most goals on the season with seven total. Rondon has taken 44 total shots this season with 22 of those shots coming on goal. Second is Hannah Murin, who has five goals made this season. Murin has attempted 34 shots overall, which also ranks second on the team. 21 of those shots have been taken on goal. Senior Heather Brady rounds out the top three in goals for the Tigers.

Brady has made four goals so far on the year on 33 shot attempts, with 18 coming right at the net. Claire Montondon continues to put her stamp on the defensive end of the field, notching 30 saves on a save percentage of 70 percent.
Redemption is on the minds of the women's soccer team this week, as they prepare to take on Texas Tyler on Thursday. Head Coach Erik Solberg is confident in his team's play heading into the two-game road trip.

"Every matchup in the ASC is going to be tough. We're going to have some extra motivation to beat Texas Tyler this week, especially after what happened last year. Ozarks is going to be another tough match this weekend but our girls are playing well right now. I think we're good enough to come away with the result," Solberg said.

ETBU will kick-off Thursday's match in Tyler, Texas against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m.
