Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Three first half goals for the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team was enough as they took the American Southwest Conference match up against the University of Ozarks, 3-1. The win moved their winning streak to four games in a row. ETBU has won ten games for the first time since 2011 as they own a 10-4-1 overall record and are 5-2-1 in the ASC.
On their first shot of the game, ETBU chipped one over the keeper's head courtesy of
Heather Brady just five minutes in the contest. Two minutes later, ETBU's second shot also resulted in a goal. This time, it was
Ashleigh Rondon who picked up an assist from Brady as the score moved to 2-0. Brady would then draw a penalty kick, which she missed, but got her own rebound to score to make it 3-0. The rest of the first half saw ETBU continue to apply pressure to the Eagles
as the three-goal lead stood at halftime.
Ozarks started to pick up the pace in the second half. They netted their only goal in the 63
rd minute on a goal by Brittanie Gragg. ETBU was able to bear down and tighten their defensive efforts as they prevented any such comebacks by the Eagles en route to their fourth win in a row.
Brady led the team with nine shots overall and six shots on goal while Rondon had four shots total, including two on net. Claire Montondon recorded two saves in sixty-eight minutes while Karrigan Falber played the final 21:24 and picked up the other save. For Ozarks, Georgia Warren had four shots overall and two on goal. Goalkeeper Kiara Henry made eight saves for the Eagles.
ETBU will return to Marshall for their second to last home game of the season. They'll host Louisiana College at 5:00 PM.
