RICHARDSON, Texas – Earning two American Southwest Conference "Players of the Week", the East Texas Baptist University football took the offensive and defensive awards for their win over Louisiana College. Brian Baca earns his first ASC offensive honor while Caleb Taylor was given his second defensive award this year.
In the 68-35 win against LC, Baca broke two ETBU program records in his first career start with 659 passing yards and seven touchdowns. In the game, he went 36-for-56 passing with his longest pass of his career of 83 yards.
Defensively, Taylor was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week with 14 total tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups. This is the third defensive player of the week for ETBU.
This also marks the fifth player of the week award as Ty Parsons (defensive) and Kentavious Miller (special teams) also won awards this year.
The win over Louisiana College puts ETBU at 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the ASC. ETBU travels to Alpine to play Sul Ross State this Saturday.
