HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Going undefeated in South Carolina and moving to 4-6-1 on the year, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team has an unbeaten streak of five matches. The final match in South Carolina ended in a tie so ETBU's win streak is still alive. ETBU earned wins over Westminster (PA), Messiah College (PA), and tied Connecticut College.
On Tuesday, ETBU shut out Westminster College, 9-0, only giving up three points in doubles winning at #1, 8-2, and then shutting out at #2, 8-0, and winning #3, 8-1. In singles play, the only points scored for Westminster came at the #1 and #2 singles matches.
Wednesday brought a 7-2 win over Messiah College as ETBU won their fourth match of the year and fourth straight match. After a 2-1 lead in doubles, winning the #2 and #3 doubles matches, ETBU won all the singles matches from #1 through #4 and the #6 matches.
The final match ended in a 4-4 tie due to darkness with Connecticut College. ETBU took at 2-1 lead in doubles winning at #2, 9-7, and #3, 8-4, for the early lead. In singles play, ETBU won just the #2 and #5 singles matches for a 4-4 tie. The final match at #6 was called due to darkness and ended in a 4-4 tie.
