MARSHALL, Texas – Shutting out Louisiana College in the first American Southwest Conference East Division match, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team won their fifth match of the year, 9-0. ETBU only allowed three points in the entire match.

ETBU started off with a 3-0 lead takin no.1 and no. 2 doubles, 8-0, 8-0. Connor Mason and Andrew Deutsch won the no.1 doubles match and the Cody Highsmith and John Herr took the no.2 doubles match, 8-0. Joseph Salinas and Ty Tarver then defeated Drake Battaglia and Micah Wall, 8-1 for the 3-0 lead.

ETBU then shutout Louisiana College in all their singles matches from no.2, no.3, no.4, and no.6. Mason won the no.1 singles match, 6-0, 6-1 vs. Battaglia. Highsmith, Deutsch, and Herr, won the no. 2, no.3, no.4 singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Salinas then defeated Nathan Gautreaux, 6-0, 6-1, at no. 5 before Tarver won the final match, 6-0, 6-0, over Todd Ryals.

ETBU will host Southwestern University in regional play at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.
