TYLER , Texas – Facing off for first place in the American Southwest Conference East Division, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team came up short, 9-0, falling to #17 the University of Texas Tyler. ETBU is now 2-1 in the ASC East Division and is now in second place.

UTT started off with a 3-0 lead in doubles as ETBU dropped the no.1 match, 8-0, and then no.2 and no.3 doubles, 8-3. In singles play, ETBU competed in three matches pushing nationally ranked UTT. Joseph Salinas lost in a tiebreaker at no.4, 7-6, 4-6, 10-5. Andrew Deutsch then fell, 6-3, 6-4, at no.2 and John Herr also lost 6-3, 6-4, at no.2 singles.

ETBU has one final match of the 2017 season on Saturday, April 22, in Clarksville, Ark., vs. Ozarks.
