MARSHALL, TX- Hunger, growth and chemistry are three of the things that Head Coach
Keely Peterson has seen in her young team heading into the third week of competition. The East Texas Baptist University volleyball team will put all those attributes to the test as they open up conference play on Tuesday.
After a week of facing several ranked opponents, the Tigers sit at 4-4 on the season and is set to kick-off ASC competition Tuesday against the University of Texas-Dallas Comets.
The Comets enter Tuesday's competition at 6-2 and are currently riding a four-game winning streak. ETBU will look to minimize their mistakes and play an aggressive brand of volleyball in order to snap the Comet's win streak.
The Tigers will hit the road for their third tournament of the season as they travel to San Antonio, TX to compete in the Trinity Classic on Sept. 15-16. The women's squad will once again square off against the No. 3 ranked Southwestern University to kick-off the tournament. The Pirates handed the Tigers a 3-0 loss during the Southern University Classic. The team will also match up against Pomona-Pitzer, Trinity (TX) and Texas Lutheran to close out tournament play.
Leading the way for the Tigers is freshman standout
Natalie Coburn. Coburn comes into Tuesday's home match against Texas-Dallas leading the team in kills (67). She also tallied a career-high 27 kills against Centenary College.
Leading the way in digs and service aces for the club is junior OH
Paige Miller. Miller has recorded 89 digs on the season and 14 service aces, thus far.

Elyse Shaw paces the team's offense, leading the way in assists at 4.8 per set and 150 total on the season. Rounding out the statistical leaders is
Gabrielle Jones, who paces the defense with 20.0 blocks on the year. Â
