LONGVIEW, Texas – In their first American Southwest Conference volleyball crossover match, Concordia University-Texas came back in all three sets to down East Texas Baptist University, 3-0. ETBU is now 5-10 and 1-2 in the ASC East. Allison Sevening led the attack for ETBU with eight kills and three blocks. Elyse Shaw chipped in 15 assists and Karina Lay contributed 16 digs in the loss.

ETBU jumped on the Tornados early in set one, leading 6-0 through the first several exchanges. The Tigers mounted their largest lead of the set at 14-6 after the kill by freshman Sarah Montemayor off of the assist by Karina Lay. ETBU led 23-18 with just two points away from closing out the first set, until Concordia erupted with seven unanswered points to steal the first game 25-23.

The second set of the match needed more than 25 points to finish. Neither team was willing to give any ground with the largest margin held by the Tornados at 19-14. A kill by Samantha Mendez knotted the game at 25-25. The Tigers made a comeback effort but ultimately fell short in set two 31-29.

By the third set, Concordia held much of the momentum and completed the sweep with the 25-16 victory in the final set. Carly Cruster led the Tornados with 12 kills and three blocks. Georgia Quiroz dished out 36 assists in the win.

Hardin-Simmons stormed out of the gates in the first set jumping out to an early 6-0 lead on the Tigers. ETBU would not give up, cutting the lead to two at 22-24. A kill by the Cowgirl's Morgan Prince sealed the first set for HSU 25-22.

The second set proved to be in the Tigers' favor. Taking advantage of two costly errors by Hardin-Simmons, the Tigers were able to pull away and win the second set 25-23.

The momentum didn't last for ETBU, as they went on to lose the next two sets 25-17 and 25-14. The Tigers fall to 5-11 overall and 1-3 in ASC play.

ETBU will close out the ASC Crossover tomorrow with a matchup with Sul Ross State. The game is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. in Longview, Texas, at LeTourneau University.
