MARSHALL, Texas- After a long road trip to West Texas last week, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team will finish their three-match road trip with a non-conference match up against the Millsaps College Majors on Tuesday night. ETBU will then return home on Thursday, Sept. 28, to host Howard Payne University in another non-conference matchup this week. That match is set to get underway at 7:00 p.m. from Cornish Field. ETBU is currently 2-5-1 overall and 0-4 in ASC.
In previous matches against the Majors, the men's squad is 4-6 in the last 10 matches. The team last played Millsaps in 2014 falling in Jackson, Miss., 4-3. Millsaps is 3-2-1 overall this season.
Thursday's match against Howard Payne has seen ETBU take eight of the first 13 matches overall. The team is 8-5 against the Yellow Jackets, including a 3-1 and 3-0 shutout win last season.
Joel Botello,
David Jackson, and
Daniel Rutter each had a goal. Both teams were even in shot attempts at 11 each.
Rutter is among the leaders for ETBU. The junior is tied for second on the team in shot attempts at 10 on the season. He has also managed two goals thus far and has two shots coming on goal.
Freshman

On the defensive end, junior
Bryant Botello has recorded 25 saves in seven games played. Botello boasts a 71.4 percent save percentage overall on the year.
Heading into this week's games, head coach
Chris Crawford is hoping that his team can seize and keep the momentum.
"It comes down to who can show up and work for 90 minutes; who can dictate the play for 90 minutes. We're looking forward to that challenge this week," Crawford said.
ETBU will have two matches this week looking to go 2-0 and improve their non-conference record.
