SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Competing in the Southwest ITA Regional Championships, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team earned some respect in the tournament. ETBU won singles matches and advanced onto the next round after day one.
 
In singles play, John Herr lost his first round match, but did win an A Draw Consolation singles match against Pablo Gomez of Texas-Tyler. Cody Highsmith reached the second round with a win over Daniel Lopez of LeTourneau.
 
Ty Tarver lost his first round match in B Draw singles, but did recover to win against Zach Miller of McMurry. In C Draw Singles, Tyler Howard reached the quarterfinals with a win over Johari Dramiga (Texas Lutheran) 8-5 and Tony Pauda (McMurry) 6-2, 6-2 while Dalton Barron had a consolation win over Pierce Parmer (Sul Ross State) 6-1, 6-2.
