Box Score PINEVILLE, La. – Thanks to a score off the penalty kick opportunity by
Daniel Rutter, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team came away with the 1-0 win over Louisiana College on Saturday afternoon. ETBU improves to 7-5-2 overall and 4-3-2 in American Southwest Conference matches this season. LC falls to 4-10-1 following the loss.
Rutter and
Brett Rose led the team in shot attempts, with two each.
Travis Floyd,
Michael Andrews,
Silas Sangano and
Thomas Sanford all added one shot attempt in the contest. Defensively,
Bryant Botello snagged four saves, bringing his overall record to 4-3-2 on the season. LC launched a total of 14, with four coming right at the net.
Rutter scored the matches only goal at the 66
th minute of the contest. Rutter was able to sink the shot from the top right corner of the net on the penalty kick opportunity, giving the Tigers the 1-0 lead. ETBU was able to keep LC off the board with stellar defense down the stretch, leading to the ASC win.
The Tigers will close out the regular season with two home matches starting with a match against the University of Texas-Dallas on Thursday, Oct. 25.
