MARSHALL, Texas – Finishing with over 600 yards of total offense, East Texas Baptist University was given an American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week in
Brian Baca. This is the second ASC weekly award that ETBU has earned this year as
Dominic Haggerty was the Special Teams Player of the Week on September 2
nd.
Baca helped ETBU to a 54-28 win over Howard Payne University going 14-of-26 throwing for 314 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions. He then had two rushing touchdowns and finished with 73 yards rushing including a career-long 50-yard run. Overall, he was a part of six touchdowns on the day.
This marks Baca's this third career Player of the Week honor as he was given the award twice last season. His first award came after his-record breaking seven-touchdown, 659 passing yard game vs. Louisiana College on October 22. His second honor was two weeks later after he threw for 276 yards and rushed for 117 yards on the ground against McMurry.
At 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the ASC, ETBU travels to Seguin, Texas, to take on Texas Lutheran at 1:00 p.m.
