Last week, the Tigers started their season with two wins on the road against McMurry University and Scheriner. In the 86-52 win over the War Hawks of McM, both
Mallory Stephens and
Kendrick Clark recorded a game-high 12 points. Two days later, ETBU had 12 points from
Marissa Warren and 11 from
Kim Childress during the 86-43 win against SU. Stephens would add nine points by making all three field goals and two free throws to finish the weekend with 10.5 points per game earning her the ASC East Division Player of the Week.
For head coach
Rusty Rainbolt said this about traveling last week. "It was a fun road trip. Anytime you get your team to go on the road, that's such a valuable time as a team. Everybody loves to play home games but I enjoy getting on the road with the team for an extended amount of time. Spending three to four days allows you to grow those relationships and hanging out on the bus or in the hotel. We ate a lot of meals and had discipleship time and just got to be together as a basketball family. That's just the biggest thing we're working on now is just the relationship side of things."
ETBU is averaging 40 rebounds a game while they have made 50.4% of their shots. On defense, they have held opponents to 47.5 ppg, 30% made shots, and 32.5 rebounds per game. Aside from Stephens, Clark is second on the team with 9.5 ppg while Warren is third with 8.5 ppg.
Taylor Singleton not only leads the team with seven assists, but she is tied with Clark with five steals. Of the 12 blocked shots recorded by the Tigers,
April Matthews is responsible for half of them.
ETBU will face Texas Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Schreiner at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The ring ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday after their game vs. Schreiner.
