Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_WBSK Has Hot Shooting Night in Win over Ozarks.

CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - Hot shooting was all the East Texas Women's Baptist University women's basketball team needed as they caught fire and never stopped while picking up a 77-56 win over the University of Ozarks Eagles. This was their second victory against UO in five days as ETBU now possesses a 17-3 record overall and an 11-2 conference record.

All of ETBU's players scored a basket in this game. Leading ETBU was Madison McCoy, who picked up up 13 points while Katy Boren had 12 points. Brittney Jones also reached double-figures in scoring with 12 points. Erin Meeks was ETBU's leading rebounder with six rebounds. Kim Childress was ETBU's leading passer with six assists. UO had two players in double-figures with 16 points from Hailey Ostrander and 13 from Cassie Emerson.

Overall, ETBU shot 50% from the field and from downtown. They also outrebounded UO 38-19, picked up a 23-13 assist margin of victory, and outscored UO's bench 32-10.

ETBU would get off to a hot start as they would race to a 10-2 lead in the first two and a half minutes before UO called a timeout. Keying the start was five points by Childress (9:16, 7:55) and a three by Boren (7:37). ETBU would extend the lead to 16-5 (4:54) as a layup by Meeks (7:09) and jumpers by Brittney Jones (6:14, 4:54) led to the score. UO though would use back-to-back three-pointers to cut the lead to 16-11. But it was back-to-back three-pointers by Boren that would lead ETBU to taking a 22-12 lead after one quarter.

The second quarter saw the Tigers make 72.7% from the field and 60% from downtown. ETBU would start the second quarter by extending the lead to 27-14 thanks to a McCoy three-pointer (9:52). The closest UO would get to was 29-20 with 8:24 to play. But from that point on, ETBU would never let UO back into the game as they would respond with a 7-0 run (8:09-6:52) led by McCoy and Amanda Wilson to lead 36-20. A three-pointer by Mallory Stephens would push the lead to 42-22 at the 5:44 mark. Each team would trade a couple of baskets before ETBU went into the locker room leading 45-26 at halftime.

Wilson gave ETBU a twenty-one point lead on a layup just thirty-six seconds into the third quarter to lead 47-26. UO however would answer with eight straight points (8:05-7:10) to trail 47-34. But the run was stopped when Boren drilled a three-pointer (6:47) to lead 50-34. Again, ETBU would reach their largest lead of twenty points on a three-pointer by McCoy (2:41; 59-39) before they would extend it to twenty-two by the end of the third quarter leading 63-41 after a jumper by Jones.

The fourth quarter saw ETBU shoot only 33% from the field. Yet, they would keep on to the twenty-point lead for all but twenty-two seconds as UO would make free throws (5:04) to trail 68-50. But Jones would secure the twenty-point lead for good (4:42) to lead 70-50. Another big moment for ETBU came when new players Tatyana Lacey (3:43) and Gillian Yannazzo (1:57) would each score their first ever collegiate baskets with a three and two-point jumpers respectively. In the end, Yannazzo's basket was the final one for ETBU who got the 77-56 win.

ETBU will travel to Tyler to take on the University of Texas Tyler Patriots this Saturday at 2:00 PM.
